CRB check referee

Hi,

I'm filling out a CRB form for a course I'm starting, but not sure who I can use as a referee. Can it be my OH or does it need to be a 'professional'?

thanks

I don't think you are allowed to use a member of your family. It doesn't necessarily have to be a professional thoguh - I am in Guiding and have been a referee for people who are joining as volunteers, and I don't have paid employment. I care for my disabled child.

ETA: you need to have known your referee for at least two years and it is courteous to ask them first.

Do you actually have to give a referee? I haven't looked at the 'new' forms yet, but on the old ones (which are valid until the end of the month I believe) you don't have to complete all the sections, the notes tell you which you can leave out IIRC.

If you're applying online you don't have to supply details of referees
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

To the OP - if you are talking about Section F on the CRB form then you no longer need to complete this section.

You should have got a guide to completing the form from your employer which tells you which parts you need to complete, namely A,B,C,D and H.

Sections E and F are no longer required.

This is up to date advice as I was helping student volunteers do this last week. :D

Thanks, No they didn't give me a guide and the e-guide online was for the new forms and I had the old one!!

I handed the form into HR today. You are correct I didn't need to fill out section E or F!!

    thanks all.
