Lost CCJ

I need some help with tracking down an outstanding CCJ that i forgot i even had.
About 6 years ago i became overdrawn on my bank account even though i didn't have an overdraft and was under 18 years old so i shouldn't have been allowed to go overdrawn, but thats besides the point.
I couldn't afford to pay it back on what i was earning then and eventualy got a CCJ. I think it was about £200 but i can't be sure. I did make a few payments but i lost my job and moved house, eventualy i kind of forgot about it and then i moved abroad for a few years.
Anyway, now i am back in the UK and have no money troubles i would like to pay it off but i have no idea how to even find it and i am scared i will get into trouble when i find it.
I should be able to pay it off in one go at the end of the month with my first healthy paycheck, unless i have loads of fines to pay for not dealing with this sooner.
I don't have any paperwork for the CCJ, can't remember which address i was at when it was issued and am not even sure which bank the original debt was with.
Does anyone know who i should contact to track this down and get it sorted, and what kind of fines i should expect for leaving it this long?
Thanks in advance

firstly get your credit records from the CRAs
thus
http://www.experian.co.uk/consumer/index.html
https://www.econsumer.equifax.co.uk/consumer/uk/sitepage.ehtml?forward=gb_elearning_credit14
http://www.callcredit.plc.uk/corporate_scripts/consumer_creditreport.asp
the basic one costs £2 per CRA. (but look carefully)
To find out if a CCJ has been registered against you, contact the Registry Trust.
The Registry Trust Limited 173-175 Cleveland Street London, W1P 5PE.
There is a fee of £4.50 for a postal search of the register for each name and address searched.
(there is a website but i can't currently remember it...maybe you could search the web to find it.)
however if your weren't yet 18 i would doubt (but in truth dont know for sure ) that the debt would not be enforceable.0 -
Thanks for the info. I'll check out my credit records, i know they will be bad but i need to get it sorted.
I found the Restry Trust site. http://www.registry-trust.org.uk/
I'll check it out.0 -
If your CCJ is more than six years old, it probably won't show up on a credit reference agency search.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

I did notice the 6 year limit for most things, but i ordered it anyway. The initial debt was over 6 years ago but the CCJ may have been just under 6 years so hopefully it will show up. I would be intrested to know what is on my report anyway as most banks have refused to let me even open an account after checking my credit report. The only bank that didn't turn me down was the halifax.
I only have £5 left for the month so the registry trust search will have to wait until payday anyway.
As for the CCJ not being enforceable because i was under 18; i got the debt when i was 17 and i was 18 when the CCJ was issued. Maybe i could have disputed it at the time due to the age issue but i didn't. I don't mind paying it now even if there is a way out of it. However, if i could dispute it and end up not having to pay it and get all the bad credit history about this cleared from my report, i would try it. This is the only debt i have ever had, i've never had an overdraft or credit card so my report should be clean apart from this, and because of this i have been "blacklisted".
One problem i have been coming accross is with my previous address. I have live at my current address for 1 year, for 2 years before that i lived in a small town in Egypt and there was no proper address. The buildings didn't have numbers and the streets had no names. I have tried giving my parents address but i still have problems with that as i was not on the electoral roll as living there.0 -
I admire the fact that you are not trying to hide from this 'debt', but I think that you need to take some legal advice.
I have a feeling that, as you were unaware of any summons, then you may apply to have the CCJ removed.
There may, also, be some legal points regarding your age, when you took out the loan.
It should be possible to prove that you were in Egypt (your residency/tourist visa) I do some work in Egypt and I know that my passport is stamped both on entry and on exit.
