Hi
My daughter is 22 and lives away from home with her boyfriend. She has rung me tonight to say that she has won, what she thought was a competition. She has been filling things in online and said that a company(not sure if i can post the name) had phoned her this evening and said she had won a make over down in London and she could bring along 5 friends! She said that all she had had to do was pay £99 over the phone with her credit card and when she turned up she would get her £99 back!!!I said OMG if u have won a competition you dont pay money up front!!!She then said that she had felt bullied on the phone to agree to it.
Now, she really is a clever girl --- she has a first class degree in Maths!!!!!! but where things like this are concerned she has no common sense. I told her she should never give out her credit card details to anyone let alone the three digit number on the back:eek: ---I told her to cancel her credit card and put a stop on the money. She rang Nat West and cancelled the card but they have told her the £99 has gone through and she will have to ring a different department tomorrow morning(this was at 7 tonight)She has just rang me to ask if she thinks she will get her £99 back as it has gone through! I said I dont honestly know and I would ask on here.
Can anyone advise please? Thanks

Hi
My sister had a similar experience years ago where she had aparantly won a makeover and professional photos. It turned out that yes there was a makeover and the photos but the real reason was to sell her a larger portfolio of photos worth over £700 - which in the end she paid.
The win only allows for a limited size and number of photographs, I think they hard sell once you are in the situation of their control.0
