tescos loan and how long for wrong info to be removed off your credit report-equifax?

i have been declined for a tesco loan -after speaking to tescos it is on the basis of the info on my equifax report.i have 2 disputes which i sent in on monday to equifax.
the first being that my virgin media has a marker with number 1 in it for june 2009-i spoke to virgin before raising a dispute with equifax and their collections team verified it has never been in arrears.
the second being the god foresaken mackenzie hall:mad:again owe them not a bean,accounts paid in january 2003 with wescot-who sold them apparently to mackenzie hall.i had no letters from anyone regarding the accounts as they were all paid.then in september 2009 mackenzie hall got in touch,the accounts got closed by a man called gordon and i have had no further correspondance from them.on getting my equifax report last sunday mh have done 6 searches in the credit application tables(table 1-visible to lenders)for outstanding debts 4 at my current address and 2 at my address from 13 years ago the seraches were done in october 2009 a month after the accounts were closed.i am still confused why they needed to do any searches.i spoke to a manager at mh she told me they do not search credit applications only tracing searches(but i had spoken to them in september so why the need to trace me?)-NOT TRUE AS THEY ARE CLEARLY ON MY REPORT!the mh manager also confirmed no monies or accounts with them.i have also raised this with equifax(they told me a company can only do 1 search in 24 hours-yet i have 6 done:mad:)
can anyone tell me how long equifax take to sort these problems out as i do not want my report to be showing this.
i am debating an appeal with tescos and they tell me i have to lodge it with in 8 weeks.
