Please could someone tell me how to get rid of a worm that has invaded my computer.
I lost everything on my computer and when I reloaded the programs etc I never put any anti virus software etc on until recently.
I then loaded zonealarm and avg from grisoft but it keeps telling me I have a worm lovsan. in C:system volume information. I have tried to use trend micro to get rid of it. Trend micro got rid of another virus I did know it had but not this one.
Please can someone help me.
Thanks

Thank you for all your help, I am still trying to get rid of the little worm, I am beginning to think that it is something to do with the anti virus programme because no other programme is detecting it apart from the one on my computer. What goes around - comes around

lovsan is othersiwse known as the blaster/welchia/nachi virus
go here
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.blaster.worm.removal.tool.html
to download a fix it tool 'fixblast.exe'
and also this one
http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/w32.welchia.worm.removal.tool.html
to download a fix it tool 'fixwelchia.exe'
most anitvirus tools can detect when a worm/trojan/virus is trying to be open up or downloaded, but as what happen back in August 2003, thse worms got downloaded and the anit viruses tools didnt pick them up, once you have downloaded the above tools and run them, they will clear any files contaminated by the worms. then download updated virus files and rescan your disk, it should be clear now.
since welchia/blaster came about, there have been some other nasty ones..... sasser/sober/netsky/klez
you will find fix it tools on the symantec website for these as wellsmile --- it makes people wonder what you are up to....

Try going to the website of your anti-virus provider. They will give you instructions on sending them the scan results and then directions on how to remove a specific virus that their software detected but could not delete. It worked for me. However they may require the registration code of their product to prove you are a paying customer.NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0
