housing benefit

If you apply for housing benefit in n ireland and last 3 months bank statements are requested does any one know if they will accept anything else if the statements are not available or would you have to request copy statements from your bank as they charge for them,

I would have thought if you were receiving working tax credit they wouldn't need your statements as your income/savings have already been checked?

Anyone know?

Systems are not integrated between Tax Credits and HB etc so you will need to provide your bank statements to the Housing benefit office as they have no means of cross-referencing with the Tax Credit office.

Print-outs from your online banking will suffice, if you have it.

ok,maybe they cant cross reference but surely they would know tax credit wouldn't be payable if you had large amount in account,

online banking isn't set up on this account unfortunately so it would mean having to pay out for copy statements :(

think it's getting a bit personal too them wanting to see what you've bought/paid etc over last few months, don't think even tax credits ask for personal info like that in the first place,do they?

Surely a balance should be enough for them ,well providing they can see you haven't removed a large amount prior to your claim
