I see you can get a beer kit to make 40 pints from Wilkinsons for just over £8.00 but what else would I need? What would I need to make wine? Would love to give this a go, hubby and I are trying really hard to cut our monthy budgets and whilst this may sound as if im a alcoholic :rotfl:we do spend a bit on keeping wine and beer in the house for friends visits and especially this time of year with BBQ's, so need to cut back on what I spend on alcohol!:D
the most difficult thing is keeping everything sterile - any contamination and your beer will taste terrible!0 -
How much is meths these days, it doesnt take much of it0

I make my own home brew, as far i understand it (and i might be wrong) its the sugar that turns to alcohal, so for an extra quid or so you can make it a lot stronger. might taste a bit nasty though (after the first couple you wont notice anyway) .0

snap, we normally buy a couple and it lasts until the next we (or my mum) goes back.
At the minute my best buy is 1.75l Jack Daniels my sis picked up in JFK for £20 (about the same price for 0.75l here...so a litre free...wahay!!!)0 -
Give it up,I did years ago and wish I had done it earlier.Loads more cash left, can remember what you did the night before and you don't have a beer gut or a hangover ever again. :j0

Second (or third or fourth or fifth) the homebrew!
A typical brewery will set you back about £60 including your first kit. Then £10ish per kit thereafter, so this can be a very cheap and easy way to make your own plonk.
I make my own from scratch. Just malt, hops, water and yeast. And for 25p, you can make beer the likes of which you could not get for any amount of money in the shops or pubs. But then theres the £100s worth of kit I bought, but at my stage, its more of a hobby than a money saving excercise.
I dont know about winemaking, but you should be able to pick up demijohns for next to nothing from your local tip.Mortgage debt - [STRIKE]£8,811.47 [/STRIKE] Paid off!0
