Chora, This is frustrating to me as a lamb producer.
Lamb butchered and bagged for freezer worth about £1.30/lb, (lamb £50 max, kill and butcher/bag joints £18, which is what I paid last week for lambs to be done for our freezer).
Lamb in the market is under price pressure at the moment due to increasing New Zealand imports. Someone may be making it too expensive to obtain, but I don't think it's me, and it isn't the NZ producer, who has to ship lambs 12000 miles to tap our market.
