HP Desktop - BIg spec £599

for anybody after a PC i was in Tesco (newton abbot) the other day and spotted a HP desktop including 17"tft. not sure of exact spec but what i remember

edit: sorry forgot to add. think it was a p4 3.2 HT

250gb HDD
1gb ram
dvd-rw (multi layer)
17" tft
multi card reader

was a long list but i forget

was priced at £599 which inclusive of the tft seemed not a bad deal if your not happy going via ebay.

Probably buildable for under £500 including fully legal software, based on online component prices, so probably not bad for £599.

However, HP do have a habit of using awful components in terms of upgrade potential, built into cases that need a gynaecologist to work on, so I'd sooner build my own!

leave this alone! its always tempting to buy an all in one package when its there right under your nose in the store but honestly this is a waste of money. I was in tescos today and had a look at the spec. - its obviously integrated graphics; scandalous for the price they are asking. Anyone wanting a brand new pc now should be looking for a 'Windows Vista ready' system - and though this might run it; it doesnt look like its particularly upgradable. Save your money; get a system that has a dual core processor, a decent graphics card and a motherboard that can take 2gig of memory at least - if it doesnt meet this spec. then wait and save - it will be worth it in the long run honest!
