When i was struggling to save my marriage i took out an unsecured loan to ease finacial pressure. Things never worked out and the marriage failed, i left the area and had no contact with the loan company due to a change of address and my ex not passing on any post ect. I have just received a letter from a collection agency asking for me to confirm this debt of several thousand pounds, this is the first contact i have had about this debt in about 12 or more years could any one tell me what to do next.
I have recently checked my credit history and there is no records of this debt on it.

If you have not acknowledged the debt in over 6 years then it is statute barred. You have the choice of ignoring the letter (the company is just speculating hoping they've found the right person)
Or you can write to them (DO NOT PHONE THEM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!) informing them that the debt is statute barred and they should close the file. I think there is a template letter around here somewhere, I'm sure someone will point you in the right direction.
Failing that, if you feel inclined, you could contact them and pay it offRemember this: nothing worth doing is easy.0 -
You are under no obligation to contact them, just ignore it and it will go away.Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.0
