Equita charges

Hello all
Basically, I had an outstanding £80 parking fine to pay to Birmingham City Council. Long story short it got passed onto Equita bailiffs. The bailiff came to the house and did a levy on my car and left a form stating that I owed £342.
After reading through advice on here and on Bailiffs Advice online (thanks by the way) I wrote to Equita requesting a breakdown which was as follows:
PCN: £80
Initial letter: £11.20
Visit fees: £28.00
Attendance/removal fees: £150
VAT: £33.15
Total: £302.31
I have written back to them querying the attendance fees but in the meantime paid the £152.15 (plus £1 surcharge).
Is there anything else I can do whilst waiting for a reply and can the bailiff still seize my car whilst i have this query about the fees?
Thanks

Have you been to the CAB?
Other than that, i would raise complaints with just about every offical authority you can think of.0 -
The£1 surcharge may well be illegal. The fees they are allowed to charge are prescribed by law. Any other fee is fraud and illegal.
If it is a charge fr paying with a credit / debit card, You can get the whole lot back. The places I've read about this recommed waiting a while specifically until the warant has expired - they last a year. Then you get the bank to refund you. The debt goes back to the council allowing you to pay the original fine and the bailliff cannot enforce charges alone, so they don't get their money.
It won't let me post a link.

Well I have written to my local authority confirming that I've made payment to Equita and asking them to confirm when they have received notice of the payment.
I have also complained to my local MP.
The bailiff turned up outside my house yesterday (Sunday) but my car was in the garage. He just sat there in his car for about 30 minutes then left!!!(I guess thinking we were out and waiting for us to return).
Can't believe he came out on a Sunday afternoon!!!0
