SIA Licence funding

Hey. DH had an interview with a security firm on tuesday (he hasnt heard back yet, if anyone has an idea about how long we should sit on the edge of out seats let me know ;))but it got me noticing just how many security jobs there are that we cant apply for because he doesnt have this licence (this job included training)

But with him on dole for the past 7-8 months ish £500 odd is hard to come by. Now hes on job seekers income based now (as a result he's getting nada) and beacue of that 0 amount I suspect even if there was JSA funding he wouldnt qualify but I thought I mite ask you good people if you knew or of any other funding he mite be able to look into

Cheers :j

Do you have any adult guidance/careers places near you? We have a couple and they fund stuff like that. http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/EducationAndLearning/AdultLearning/DG_071762

If unemployed, I believe that the job centre will pay for the training & licence (about £250 each for both the training and the licence), if he were to receive an offer for a job that required this (this should be applicable to any job offer / training costs / licence that is required).

He needs to speak to the job centre if he gets a firm offer of a job (get it in writing) and they should cover the costs.

He should be able to get funding to get his licence but the security company he is applying to may not wait for him to get his licence. If not, then re-apply when he has his licence, as they are alwys looking for good people. We have employed a number of people who were long term unemployed, and the jobcentre paid for them to be trained and get their licence.

Where is your OH lokng for a job? Which security firm is it? If its one of the larger ones, I can probably give you some inside info. PM me if that would be helpful.

    Good luck to your OH.

    Thank you every one.

He got a letter today, he didnt get the job but I think the SIA licence maybe key to getting a job. any tips on getting the funding squeezed out of the JC would be great, I too worry that the JC saying they will fund if the job is there isnt enough, who's gonna want to wait?!
