OP only way you will find out is by seeking legal advice.

Ok the subject of scarring I came off my bike quite a while ago and smashed my left leg it had to be pinned back together between ankle and knee. It looks like i have a zip on my leg I still wear skirts I have came to the conclusion that people either wont notice, won't care or if they do they must have incredibly boring lives for a scar on my leg to matter to them so really I am doing them a public service by giving them something to stare at.

the thread does get boring at times, so you have to add in something even more daft! Its like a TV soap, but instead your reading it and you dont know whats coming next :D

Then I would suggest that if you are 'bored' with the thread, stop contributing to it - particularly if you have nothing constructive to add.

    Pictures...or it didn't happen.

Seriously though, have you taken any pictures of your burn? Might be a good idea.

Regardless of the rights and wrongs of suing the company, have you thought of the consequences that may happen?

If it were my company and we were sued successfully I would shut the canteen for "Health and Safety" reasons.
This would protect all the other employees from coming to harm in the canteen, Therefore also protecting the company from one avenue of being sued.
The outcome of this may be that all your workmates will be p1ssed off with you, could you work under those conditions?

Or the company might invest in some more trays - which would be an awful lot cheaper.

I also think alot would be prevented by taking away the hot-food option, it really isnt neccessary to have hot food at work with all the risks that go with it. cold food is just as nourishing as hot.

I don't think I am shrugging it off at all - I am being realistic. The OP'S colleague has dropped a bowl of soup - she or the company she works for can hardly be deemed as negligent and ultimately, that is what will have to be proved.

So you admit that she dropped it, as opposed to it being an accident?

I wonder if the people saying it was an "accident" would accept that from someone who was delivering a very large expensive item to their house?

!!!!!! - the world's gone mad, could you imagine even thinking about trying to claim compensation 30 years ago for something like this? This world is in a sad, sad state...
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands
