    Hi there
We live in Scotland and my hubby is a Midge Magnet, they feast on him! What he has found to be most effective is Avon Skin So Soft, that combined with Jungle Fever seems to keep them at bay..for a while at least. He keeps praying that someone will invent the ultimate midgie repellant but until them Skin so soft is the most effective

  • Don't know any remedies but I'd like to know some as I'm getting bit like there's no tomorrow this year! My ankles and lower legs were swollen from bites last week and this morning I found my wrist/forearm swollen (and currently getting worse) so it's quite annoying and I believe it's causing my current bouts of lethargy and mood swings.

Anyway, went to doctors regarding my lack of energy and had blood tests done yesterday so hoping that might rule some things out..?

I've never, ever had any allergy problems, I'm usually Mr. Immune but over the past couple of years it's got worse, it's quite frustrating to say the least.

I get this too & cellulitis is caused by a dirty bite - usually a clegg bite.

If bitten by a clegg use an antiseptic wipe as soon as possible. I take anti histimine if bitten. But if you get bitten on a vein & it's been a dirty bite then chances are you'll end up on anti biotics.

The midges have been really bad this year as it's been very cloudy & still.

Jungle formula does keep midges off but it's quite chemical leaden - nothing else really works although I have had sun tan cream with insect repellent that did work a bit.

I think the cellulitis would have been caused by cleggs.

We are being bitten badly (that is myself and my son) - they leave his fiance alone!

I'm not entirely sure what is doing the biting. I do have a cat and wondered if there are fleas that I have not seen. My bites are coming up as big red lumps. It is getting me down at the moment, what with that and the heat. :(

Neem oil. You can get it from health food shops as well as online, you can use it for nits etc and its an excellent insect repellent. It neuters the swines should they be brave enough to actually bite you!

Try some 1% hydrocortisone cream for the swelling & an antihistemine for the itching

As always please follow the instructions on the label blah bla not medical advice just a tip :D
