I would test it before the day though and see how much you would need to get the colour you want and wether it flows with the water. Make sure you mix it well in something you can messy before adding it to the fountain if you don't want gold dots all over your cake.Getting married Wednesday 24th August 2011!

Nstead of using water, what about using apple juice or something similar? That's a goldy colour isn't it!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

I wanted a fountain but couldn't get hold of one, where did you get yours from?
My cake lady said that they aren't used as much any more as the motor in them over heats or something? What will your cake look like, will it be the same as the photo? x0 -
hmmm - i have to say, to ME, it looks more like there is a light under the fountain which gives a gold glow and therefore makes the water LOOK gold but to me it doesn't look like the liquid itself is gold......??
Oh and also... a MOTOR??? in a cake???????? Madness LOL.... what if the cake bloomin' explodes!?!?!!!?!??? There MUST be a good reason if cake makers refuse to use them anymore???
My mum decorates cake for a living and she has never even HEARD of anyone having a fountain IN their cake - is it an American thing??Baldrick, does it have to be this way? Our valued friendship ending with me cutting you up into strips and telling the prince that you walked over a very sharp cattle grid in an extremely heavy hat?0 -
It's not IN the cake, its underneath it!
The cake just sits on the stand on top.
I suspect the cake layer at that bottom of the photo that Bride posted is a 'fake' cake made of polystyrene. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -

You're right, it is a light that's making the liquid look a gold colour.
I've watched loads of American wedding programmes and quite a few have had fountains in, on, or under their cakes.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
