Hi,
I've had a pack of large froen prawns at the bottom of the freezer for 6 months (maybe a bit more!!). Been trying to clear out the freezer so am I alright to defrost these for dinner tonight?

They will probably be ok, won't do you any harm though as long as your freezer has been reliable and is a proper deep freeze.0

According to a quick search on google, the maximum recommended time to keep frozen prawns is 6 months.
They shouldn't have gone off, but the quality may have deteriorated. I would defrost them and see what they are like first.0 -
They look fine, no different for the 6 months I would say.
The freezer is brand new (also about 6 months old) and freezes very quickly.Wins 2010 (holiday pretty please!): Jan:BlueReefAquariumTicket!Feb: TottenhamTeamMascotExperience!Mar: AvonPerfume£100YatesbartabAltonTowersbreak!Apr: - May: BicSoleilRazor June:2OdeonTickets BicRazorAgainHippHamperHamper July:HairAwards2010 Products!Aug:Nothing Sep: Nothing:( Oct: DailyMail£250!0 -
Hi Stacey Steve
There is a thread on food safety and I'll add your thread to it later once you have more responses
Frozen food safety - misconceptions may also offer you some insightful information
freezing tips and quick questions may also be useful
I would more than likley use them if I thought they looked and smelt ok. Do a taste test
Let us know how you get on.
thanks
