Loan to Loan UK
Options
Hi,
Has anyone had a call from Loan 2 Loan UK offering you a loan? I had such a call today. They told me my loan application for 2000 had been approved and began to ask for personal details to validate the application and send me the loan.
As I am on TPS I asked where they had my details from, and was told I had completed an online application. I explained this was not possible as not only had I not heard of the company but I had neither applied for a loan recently with anyone, and as a rule I don't apply for these types of things online.
I was told that I had applied and even if I had forgotten (clearly he thought I had dementia) the loan had been approved anyway so I should just give me my details and the money would be mine.
Suffice to say I refused.
I then looked up the company on line and it would appear from their website to be legit - but they can't be too legit if they ramdomly offer people loans from the phone book (illegal given I am TPS anyway).
I just wanted to know if this was a one-off truely unbelievable mistake on the company's behalf or if it had happened to anyone else? and if so if it's worth reporting?

From what I understand they are not a loan company, but a broker. One who charges a fee for finding you a loan, but don't actually bother.
I've seen a lot of posts from people receiving the same type of call as you, so this appears to be a tactic of theirs to try and draw people in.February wins: Theatre tickets0 -
I had my suspicions! Thanks. I think I will report them to Consumer Direct. If anyone knows if there is a better authority (who might actually take action!) to report this to, let me know.
This sort of thing really annoys me as its always the vunerable who end up being done over.0 -
Go to Trading Standards and the OFT - these companies are the pits for getting their "admin fee" out of people and doing nothing for it. They must have some of the best paid administrators in the business!!!PROUD TO BE DEALING WITH MY DEBTS! DFW Nerd 1004
Debt at lightbulb moment (April 2004) - £62,000
Debt now - £27703.11 - UNDER 30k AT LAST!!!!!
Drop one thing in 2010 - no books / DVDs until I've read and watched the ones that are on the shelf!0 -
Done - reported to TPS, Consumer Direct, OFT and will now look at trading standards. Also complained directly to the company.0
