Extra thought, if you are claim free could you put your caravan on your household insurance. Ours was really cheap that way - 'til we had 2 claims in as many months that is!
    I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.

a bit confused about the mortgage overpayment...in the lodger line you say 200 to overpayment but in the mortgage line you say 10.

but maybe the problem is things left out altogether....maybe e.g. do you spend anything on clothes, does 20 per week include all going out costs, any takeaways, any lunches / coffees at work, did you have a holiday this year or any weekends away, do you buy any presents for anyone, anything spent at xmas
  • Not too bad. According to my calculations you have £101.08 per week to spend on food and anything else, going out, booze, clothes etc. I suggest you write this in a spending diary on a Monday and keep a note of what you spend by subtraction. If you have any over carry it forward to the next week.

    The figures are as follows:

    income weekly monthly
    self 1480.00
    partner
    lodger 230.00

    total 0.00 1710.00
    394.62 divided by 4.33

    394.62 total weekly income

    spend weekly monthly
    rent/mortgage 500.00
    council tax 95.00
    elec 45.00
    gas 65.00
    water 45.00
    secured loans 0.00
    TV licence 11.00
    fines 0.00
    mobi 15.00
    car 100.00
    phone 12.00
    house ins 27.00
    cc 150.00
    caravan 40.00
    appliance ins 25.00
    diesel 120.00
    dentist 18.00
    life 4.00

    total 0.00 1272.00
    293.54 divided by 4.33

    293.54 total weekly spend

    Start= income - spend = 101.08 per week
  • Dentist is dental insurance plan.

Mortgage overpayment - The £200 from lodger is thrown straight at mortgage at the mo (and not counted in income), DD for the mortgage is set at 500 (was going to be £495ish, so I decided to round it up - haven't heard what affect the last rate rise will have though).

Missing things: £20 covers lunches (if I don't bring my own), only drink water or fruit juice from home. Holiday - good point - though only cost there is site fees (already budgeted for the diesel and food). Presents - ooops... No idea what I spend.

Tis quite unnerving to see that I'm (well, I have been) overspending - and I thought I was doing fine...
    FWLBM - 1st Sept 06 - Debts: around £80k (not entirely sure...:o )
