Rose flavoured cake recipes?

The other day I had some gorgeous cake at a National Trust house. It was basically Victoria sponge but rose flavoured with rose buttercream and rose icing. Does anyone have a recipe or could you suggest how much (and brand if important?) rosewater to add. The cake had candied rose petals on top too, are these difficult to make?

I've made a rose flavoured cake with buttercream by adding a couple of tablespoons to the cake mixture and the same to the icing (although be careful you don't water it down too much - you might need to add a bit more icing sugar). It can be quite strong so make sure you taste as you go.

It's also gorgeous added to meringues :)

I also add a splash to baked cheesecakes, but what angeltreats said - go easy as it's quite strong stuff.

i make my roase cake by making a normal sponge then afterwards drizzling with rosewater syrup and make a cream cheese icing flavoured with rose water. I find the rosewater is fresher this way than when baking it in the cake

That sounds absolutely lovely lushlifesaver - I'd really love the recipes if you have them please, or if anyone else on here does?

I love rose in food - I'm a teeny tiny bit obsessed :o although we are a bit spoilt where I live - there's various places, doing really good turkish delight, a rose jam (really common in France apparently), and rose syrup (yum over cakes, ice creams etc - and currently experimenting with it to try and make rose sorbet!)

Oh and absolutely ****brill**** with chocolate (lychee and rose chocolates.......HEAVEN!!!!!)

A very late reply (nearly a year) but I am still looking for the perfect recipe!

Yes, I am late in replying too, lost the thread (in more ways than one) but if lushlifsaver or elf 06 are still reading on here, I would be most grateful for your recipes. :)
