i live in a house and have no personnel debts.
Nearby flat tenant(just moved in) with similar address has erroneously changed my electricity supplier and purchased goods using my address,she has ignored being notified of my address being used. (Brit.Gas refuses to return supply in my name).it has come to light that previous flat tenant was also using my address was purchasing goods & services.
What is the best way of addressing whether my address has a bad debt record

Debt is held against a person at the address, but it does cause worrying problems - you need to go and knock on some doors! Tell them that s/he is paying for your electric. That should sharpen them up a bit!
If it is a managed building contact the owners and tell them that you believe your neighbour is using your address as a method for fraud.Today's Debt:
B/Card = £6,410 F/D = £3,190
Loan = £0 Woohoo!
Total Debt = £9500
Debt as of 26-1-11:
Total Debt = £14,3250 -
It might be worth you getting a copy of your credit file - there should be no problem as debts are always recorded against people not a specific address but might just be worth checking to make sure this person isn't down as being financially associated with you or even an alias of yourself. Certainly shouldn't be but on the small chance they are its probably easier to sort it out now rather than a few years down the line.
I might also be tempted to write a letter to the person and send recorded to say you have been made aware that they have used your address in error and could they be extra diligent in future to ensure they use their correct address.A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0
