Been traveling, what to put on CV?

Hi all,

I'm just in the process of updating my CV and making sure it's done right as I'm going to be handing it out to various places asap.

After finishing uni I went traveling to America and was there for 6 months, I saved up before I went so I didn't work. I met new friends and just chilled out, took in the culture and spent time with family who live there.

Therefore there is a gap in my CV! Should I write that I went traveling and what should I put?

Thanks!

Its pretty common for people to have a gap year or similar these days, I'd just put it in. Its better than having a gap.

As above just say you were travelling - not a big issue.

Does it go in between the jobs I did before and after or does it go in its own section in the cv? And should I be elaborating on 'traveling' ?

I just put my gap year in with my work history
Just says: 2004 travelling around the world. Nobody has ever raised any questions about it.

I agree with putting it in with employment.
A gap in employment gets alarm bells ringing, and they might not read the whole thing.

If you can say what you learnt while travelling, especially highlighting where it is relevant to the jobs you are applying for, then all the better.
