Am I doing the right thing?

Just thought I'd let you know that I did contact CCCS yeasterday & I have my counselling interview on 3rd October.
As I am not in arrears with anything & not had things bounce I have not contacted any of the creditors yet. What I would 'like' to do is to sort out the mess without having to necessarily go down that route. I have snowballed & apparently should be debt free by June 2013. In some ways that doesn't seem so bad but then I think my eldest will be 14 by then! OH still does not know - I know, I know. But if I can manage this by cutting rightback then I'd like to. Have been ebaying, amazoning & traded in an old mobile. Groceries this week (for4) £65 which is Sooo much better but I want to get it down to £50 at the most.
I do talk to you all and my sister which really helps but am i kidding myself?
Sometimes I feel positive then the doubt sets in. I just want o be able to get through the day without thinking about debt ALL the time.

;) Hi SW! I'm no expert but it seems like you're on the right road! CCCS are the experts and you'll feel so much better when you've spoken to them.
I know I did. Thanks to them I can sleep at night now!:D

    All the best;)
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • Thanks TL.
If I can manage without going down the DMP route then thats what I want. If things change then I'll have to look at it again.
    I fell better!!

Good for you - you've made a really good start. When I first started paying off my debts, not only was my debt free day in the next milennium, but it was way beyond 2006. However, things changed a little as I went along - pay rises, then better paid job, I got better at shopping and reducing outgoings, etc. and my debt free day came about 5 years earlier than I had anticipated. You can do it too.
