Not anywhere could I find that there would be such a huge penalty. When I applied last year, all I found was that I'd get up to 10 months refund with a cancellation fee of £5. Since then I've been unable to find it again. And since I've complained, they've put up their cancellation policy. Coincidence?
I'm going to the consumer council. I didn't sign anything that agreed with their so-called policy. I was not made aware of their policy at the time of them getting a big fat cheque for £1,392. I basically paid a £261 cancellation fee. They were earning interest on that cheque, so effectively they got more than £1,392. They wouldn't have got that much interest if I'd been paying the monthly ticket. They were better off.
What they have done is refunded the WHOLE of your annual season, but deducted the cost of the monthly seasons.
So you are in exactly the same position as if you had chosen to buy monthlies.
Their logic is not twisted, you have paid no penalty. In fact you had a free punt at getting a year's travel at annual rates.
Don't bother going to the consumer council. People get wound up about this particular issue quite frequently and quite wrongly - in their eyes you will look foolish.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Nope, he's actually better off as he got all his monthlies at £145 instead of the real cost at the time had they applied the price increases!

If you look here you'll notice that the filename actually contains 180809, so therefore the policy has existed since *at least* August 09.

Where did you find that? I looked high and low and that's the first I've ever seen of that document. The one I'm talking about was only added this month. I can't link it because my membership on here doesn't allow me to link.
The whole point of buying the annual card was to get the discount. I am out money. They earned interest on the lump sum, they benefited. I am going to get my money back because I did not sign anything that suggested that I understood the terms & conditions (which are NOT easy found).{Removed by Forum Team}0 -
And oh yeah, that document linked is dated August 09. I bought the ticket in June 09. So there still isn't any proof that those 'rules' were in existence at the time of my purchase.{Removed by Forum Team}0

They existed in September 2008 when I first got my ticket.
You are fighting a lost cause here. If I was aware of them back in '08. And I was. Then you will have some job saying the info wasnt available in '09.0
