Job Seekers Allowance Question

I'm an 18 years old, recently finished my exams and hoping to go to university in september.

I'm unemployed but would be able to work most days, probably full-time, between now and when I start university.

I know that it says on the website that as I'm a student it's unlikely that I'll get anything, but technically I'm not in education, would it be worth asking if I was able to apply for it between now and september? I've applied for quite a few jobs around my local area but I've been unsuccessful on some and I'm awaiting a response on a few others.

Thanks for any help, sorry if this is a stupid question.

If you are actively seeking and available for work for are eligible for JSA, unless you have significant savings or live with a partner who is earning?
    Gone ... or have I?

If your parents have been claiming Child Benefit for you then you won't be eligible to claim JSA until the beginning of September as this is when the Child Benefit stops.

I don't think I have a huge amount of savings, would they take my parents income into consideration?

Other than that, thank you! I might give them a ring tomorrow and see what they say

Ah, yes they have. Guess that means I'm not entitled to anything?

Neither did I, thanks Sues48, it answers one of my own query as well.

Although it doesn't hurt to ask, nothing ventured and all of that!! Give it a try - at least your going into further education and have every intention of doing something with your life unlike quite a lot of people on JSA.

    xx
