job seekers allowance

My 18 year old daughter has until recently been claiming job seeker allowance. She has just started a 6 week training course, at the end of this period; if she passes the exams involved will result in her becoming employed. The course is held in the South of England where as she lives in North Wales, therefore she has to find accommodation and live for the full six weeks but can no longer claim job seeker allowance because she cannot sign on each fortnight. Surely she should be entitled to some financial help, i.e. travelling expenses, accommodation in order for her to accomplish this lengthy form of job seeking. Can anyone help?

What type of training course is it? Is it specific to an employer or a general one that would cover any employer in that sector?
If it's a general one, don't bank on her being employed.
If it's a specific one to the company, has she asked the company about payment? Expecting someone to travel miles and get accommodation for the 6 weeks in the hope of getting a job with a specific employer is a bit much; the employer should be paying for this if it is specialist training they require.
Back to the old adage, it's best to look for employers that pay employees, rather than employers who expect employees to pay to work for them."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100
