Keratase thermal product

Hi, I have just bought the Keratase thermal product as recommended on here. It was £17 but the girl in the salon where I bought it said it will last me for ages. She also said you only have to use it about once every fortnight and it stays in your hair all that time and that if you overuse it then it could make your hair too strong and break it.
She says you need to use a normal conditioner after every wash, do you do this if the treatment stays in your hair for weeks?
Anyone here only use it once every two weeks or so?
I am just thinking that it could be used as a conditioner and styling product, thus saving more money.

Hi, I only use it when I'm going to use heat on my hair, which is maybe once a week. All leave-in/styling products leave residue in the hair but have never know it to be 'too strong to break'. Some products do leave silicone in your hair which can make it brittle.
I just wash and condition my hair with regular shampoo and conditioner everytime I wash my hair regardless of whether I'm going to use leave in/styling products.0 -
Hi, thanks for your reply. I have just noticed an instruction sheet in the box and it doesn’t say anything about using it now and again, just when you use heat on your hair.
Thing is I blow dry my hair every time I wash so it seems like I need to use it every time?0 -
does it have a protein in it? I I over use protein it makes my hair feel brittle and dry, and certainly more prone to breakage, but used occasionally it does indeed help.
The hairdresser might have been able to respond more accurately as she could see your hair type/condition.0 -

I would say its more for direct hot iron/ceramic tools. Unless you use the hairdryer on a 'hot' setting rather than warm I wouldnt waste the product everytime you blow dry. At least on my hair the product seems to be only activated by contact.0 -
I've just been using it as heat protection - I straighten every time I wash my hair to that is every other day, or 2 days at most.
The mascquinese(sp) I was told to use about once a fortnight, and I try to last that long but I love how my hair feels after using it so its probably every 10 days!
Not sure if I'm doing it right but works for me - and you really do only need the tiniest amount0 -
Well I've used it tonight and so far am impressed. I haven't used a conditioner, just used this as a leave in and my hair is sleek and smooth up to now. I notice it says on the leaflet that one application lasts for five shampoos so it might not need to be used everytime.
Is it worth buying the shampoo? I currently use Simple shampoo which seems to work well but just wondered if the Keratase would go better with this treatment, though £14 is a lot just for shampoo that you rinse out.0 -
I've just used this morning Keratase shampoo (my masque and therm stuff needed replacing and I though in for a penny!!!). I got the one in the green bottle for chemically damaged hair and it says on the lable that it leaves a coating on the hair to strengthen it.
Only one use so far but hair does feel nice (seemed hard to rinse out tho - must be the 'coating').
will see after few washes whether its worth replacing.
Keratase is the only expensive brand of anything that I have found is actually worth paying for - everything else in my bathroom is cheap stuff and I'm happy with it - that's how I justify it anyway!0 -
My hair did look good last night but this morning it seems a bit dull and lank so I'll have to use this stuff again and see what happens.0
