I'm Ill

I don't want any advice, just sympathy. I am off work poorly, the first day's sick leave I have taken since I started work 5 yrs ago. Everyone thinks I'm skiving because of the football, I'm not even English!!

Currently watching poirot whilst trying to think of ways to make the house winterproof. I have slept for about 12 hours and can't go outside because it's too bright :(:(:(

    Hope you soon feel better:beer:.

You've done well to have 5 years without having to take a sick day. Got 2 poorly dentists on this board now. At least now you've got lots of time for posting helpful advice which I know is very much appreciated by everyone:T

    Good luck for the future
  • Well, I had a bath and went to bed but it seems like everyone I know took the opportunity to text or call me during that time so it wasn't too succesful. I'm worried about work as I have a very young practice manager just learning the ropes and we were meant to be covering for another dentist today but honestly, doing dentistry is sooooo hard when you're not well, I don't know if the other fang farriers would agree but even a simple filling takes aaaaaaaages when you're ill.

I just thought it would be kinder to me and my patients to stay away. Not feeling much better though. Can't wait for OH to get home, hopefully England will win and he'll be in a good mood!

Lots of sympathy coming your way :grouphug:
It's better to be off for a day or two than struggling into work, doing a shoddy job & end up making yourself more ill.
Hope you feel better soon. x

Oh you poor thing, there, there...............you get better soon.:)

You've done the right thing (staying away from work).............I wouldn't want a poorly fang farrier (with shaky hands) leaning over me with a syringe in hand.:D

Try not to get dehydrated if you're in bed a long time?

  • Thanks everyone, I'm in work now but feel worse than I did when I woke up so I'm off hme again at lunchtime. Just hope patients aren't too pee'd off at being cancelled again.

Trying to drink lots, you sound like my mum barneysmom, she always says "a pint of water and some paracetamol and when you wake up, some more water". Saw the doc and he said "ew, you don't look very well", no sir, that's why I'm here!

while patients may be a bit peeved about cancellations - i am sure, given the close nature of your work, they would be even more peeved if you kept their appointments and passed on your germs!
i work for an optician and when i have to cancel a clinic due to illness if a patient seems a bit peeved i always mention that a optom has to get very close to examin the back of the eyes and as a result it would not be fair for the optom to work and spread their illness to the general public - this reasoning works for a good number of peeved patients - although not all!!!
Dogs return to eat their vomit, just as fools repeat their foolishness. There is no more hope for a fool than for someone who says, "i am really clever!"
