Hassle from Egg

Now that I've been declared bankrupt, I've started answering the phone again. Egg keeps pestering me and there's something about their tone that winds me up. The guy (it's always the same one) claims I am required to give him details about my bankruptcy. I think he's wrong and I keep telling him he will hear from the OR in due course.

Who's right?

Well, to be fair, he only wants the name and address of the OR, the bankruptcy number, court, date and so on. It's just his tone winds me up and so I tell him nothing.

Back when I was trying to avoid bankruptcy, I wrote to Egg and offered to double my payments if they would reduce the interest rate. They refused. Well, that was a bit dumb of them, wasn't it.

Well, there's no legal obligation for you to provide that info over the phone.

It's not an unreasonable request however.

I know Egg are complete tits, but that is another matter. :o

Well, I know you're right. Like I say, it's just his tone. And his timing. He usually calls when I'm nowhere near my paperwork, so I don't have the info anyway. And, given that I'm not lying about being bankrupt, he'll find out soon enough.

If you don't have the paperwork to hand, suggest that he looks it up on the insolvency register, it will give him the details there too.

    I can understand that.

If Egg could be bothered, they could look up your BR online, so they have no real excuse.

no they cant, what they are trying to say in the most scary way possible is that they will fill in a form for the OR saying how much they are owed and the OR might give them some money if there is any to be given out, as simple as that
