18 - 24 Adv Support Stage 1 Initial meeting/interview

Hi all,
Signed on today (JSA) and they have given me a letter saying I have an appointment for "18-24 Adv Support Stage 1 Initial (Vol). It says its only 30 minutes long so I can't imagine it'll be much, but I was just wondering if anyone could shed some light on what this appointment will involve? Is it just going over what I've been doing to look for work etc? Or something to do with this 'New Deal' programme I've been reading about?
Thanks

In my jobcentre I use this interview to get a feel how "job ready" you are. Obviously no two interviews are the same but usually I would:
Have a look at your job goals and try to get a feel how realistic they are in the local labour market.
Ask you how many vacancies you'd recently identified and how many you had actually applied for. We'd talk through these applications and discuss any concerns that you had.
Check where you're searching to identify suitable vacancies (newspapers, websites etc) and I'd offer advice if I believe that you're missing any source of vacancies.
Ensure that you have a CV and understand how to write a covering letter. If necessary I would offer CV advice, refer you to a provider who could help with your CV or even produce one for you (but not in this 30 minute interview).
Talk to you about any concerns you have about your interview skills, maybe refer you to a provider offering interview technique advice.
Talk about various training courses that are available to you free of charge, mainly literacy, numeracy or IT (ECDL).
Nothing to worry about, use the 30 minutes as an opportunity to discuss any (jobseeking) concerns with your adviser0 -
Its an opportunity for the job centre to tick a box in my opinion. They now want to be seen to be helping people in this age bracket. The interview is a waste of time, almost identical to the initial interview you have when you first sign on.
Sorry I meant the 18- 24 interview:j:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::j0
