New Housing Benefit cuts: what effect will they have?

no one, and that means NO ONE should get more than a 2 bedroom flat if they are on HB. No one on HB should be entitled to any house that is better than someone who works can afford.
Can someone please explain to me why I work and pay a mortgage and have no money left at the end of the month, meanwhile some woman around the corner lives in a HA flat, paying what i presume is less than market rent, and she swans around in a convertable and is eating out and going on holiday all the time. if she can afford luxuries like eating out, holidays and convertables, I think the HA should boot her out and she can pay market rent to a private landlord.
the trouble with this country is the unfairness. people need to learn a massive lesson, and that lesson is YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED. you have no entitlement to anything. These people are beggars who live off the forced charity of those who pay tax. Some may pay tax themselves, but this is irrelevant.
I don't mind helping the poor to live, but i do mind helping the less well paid swan around in convertables and go on holiday whilst I can't afford to do the same myself, despite earning a substantial salary.
I hate the lefties that created this mess.0 -

Hm, I know White Horse that you like to put down strident opinions, some might even say 'Trollesque', but in case the question was not rhetorical, the idea is/was that children should not suffer overcrowding for the faults of their parents.
LHA isn't all that generous for single people with no kids. It's kids that get you bedrooms. And it's getting bedrooms that gets you into a nicer neighbourhood.0 -

You don't work hard enough. Stop whining. If you can't afford your house, you shouldn't have it - you pinkie communist.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Which acts as an incentive to just keep having more children that you cannot afford to support, and expecting others to pay.

if the kid has idiot parents, then tough luck on that kid.0

I am sure this has already been said (sorry - haven't read through the whole thread) but apart from the upper limit caps, they are also going to reduce LHA so from October 2011, Local Housing Allowance rates will be set at the 30th percentile of local rents for all bands.0

Many are not idiots, they have just worked out that knocking out kids that they cannot support is a good route to bigger and better housing. Seems some posters on here seem to think that is OK.0 -
There must be a forum somewhere called money grabbing expert .com, with all hints and tips on how to maximise benefits and humour section laughing at people who intend to pay their own way.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Ahhh does that mean I am an idiot then?
Silly me had a hysterectomy 9 years ago and can't knock anymore out! (I was married and working in those days).
Sorry, being :rotfl: this morning. My sarcasm is knowing no bounds today.....We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Another thing in the budget that could impact housing in some way. From April 2013.2.54 Housing Benefit awards will be reduced to 90 per cent of the initial
award after 12 months for claimants receiving Jobseekers Allowance. This will
be introduced in April 2013. (33)
So after a year on the dole your housing benefit get reduced - not great for LL I imagine. Will they turf tenants out who become unemployed?
I guess it's part of the stick to get people back to work.
It will include single parents whose youngest child has reached 5 as they will move onto JSA from Income Support - and presumably housing benefit will drop after 12 months.2.59 From October 2011, lone parents whose youngest child is aged 5 or
above will be eligible for Jobseekers Allowance rather than Income Support,
and existing customers will be transferred from Income Support to Jobseekers
Allowance from April 2012. (24)
Of course people could just have more kids.......0
