How many follow-up calls?

To cut a long story short, I attended a recruitment day recently in my area for a new business starting up looking for 150 employees. This recruitment day turned into an informal interview for myself which seemed to go well. The person interviewing told me she thought I was what they were looking for and to keep an eye on my post/e-mail as they were aiming to get back to people within 7 days.

Heard nothing within 7 days and thought I would leave it a couple of extra days as I had heard that 2000 people had infact shown up for these 150 positions.

On day 9 I gave them a call and was told my application was still under consideration and as they had had so many applicants the process was taking longer than they thought it would and it hopefully wouldn't be too much longer. She also mentioned they had been sending out Regret Letters/E-mails that day and I wasn't (as yet) in that pile.

This week will be over 2 weeks since the original recruitment day. Should I give them a call again at the end of the week if I haven't heard anything?

I hope my first call made me look keen (as I am!) but I don't know whether another call is maybe too much?

Yeah give them a call this week and say you're just wondering whether or not your application is being taken any further, as you were under the impressed you'd have known easily before now.
  • Thanks for the reply :)

I think I'll give it to Friday again. I just really want the job!

Good luck with it...bear in mind that if they aren't opening for a few weeks then finalising recruitment might not be a high priority, especially as they might not have final budgets and staff numbers in place.

    Thank you :)

The lady at the recruitment day said they were wanting people to start ASAP as they will be doing training courses and stuff before the place actually opens. That's kind of what's getting to me too, as I don't know if they will go to 2nd more formal interviews, or literally be wanting people to start. So I could get called for a formal interview and then have to wait to hear again after that.
