I apologise that I haven't looked through every post in this forum so I don't know if there is maybe already another thread like this one....
I've had a lot of free time lately - it's driving me up the wall! I've been thinking long and hard about new hobbies and thought it might be nice to have a thread for suggestions about free/cheap things to do that fill time?
I know there are the usual Sports, Reading etc etc but thought it might be good if some people can suggest some different things and their tips on where they source things from cheaply? (for example knitting and hot tips on where to look for cheap wool shops...)

As Scotland is the home of golf.....go to a municipal course or a driving range or even just a putting green, it gets addictive.
I once bought a radio controlled model plane on an impulse, that kept me amused for a long time.
Learn some sleights of hand and then learn close up magic tricks, info online and on many Youtube videos.
Learn to fly a kite, always attracts passers by who wish they were flying it.
As you are on the Internet why not custom build a computer, you only need a screwdriver to screw bits together, again learn online.
Break away from Murdoch's Sky monopoly, buy a motorised satellite dish and watch 8,000 channels from Russia and Turkey all the way across to Spain.
Later in the week my son is taking me clay pigeon shooting, never done it before but I'll try anything once (twice if I like it)0 -
How about salsa dancing or walking thats free and good exercise.0

Thanks for the ideas guys! I've been doing a lot of walking but really ought to get the bike out as well (as soon as I find someone to remove the cobwebs from it *shiver*). I'm ideally trying to find something free but may look into possibility of salsa classes or the kite idea (I'm in Dundee so can guarantee wind!)
p.s. hot tip: I got my bike for £20 from our Uni Freshers Fayre - some guys came along from the second hand bike shop and didn't want to have to take a lot back home so they really dropped the prices at the end of the day! If you find a uni is doing something like this, crash it at the end!0 -
Look on your areas Gumtree. I'm Glasgow and there are always loads of different classes and groups advertised. How about a language?? Also it seems everyone right now is going on about Zumba - I want to try that!!0
