Fixing for 2 or 5 years?

How much longer do you have left to run on your mortgage? Would you be better off borrowing the money over a shorter term, or perhaps taking out a 2nd mortgage for the amount, rather than consolidating the mortgage?0

Why do you want to be added to the mortgage? it onloy benefits your lender.
If I was a mortgage adviser I'd recommend a 2 year deal for the churn value. I'm not and I don't.
Go with SVR (and trust your husband) or fix for as long as possible.

Thanks everyone. Our current mortgage ends in January 2012. I am not fussed about being on the mortgage but we will not get the additional borrowing we want on my husbands wages alone (he is self employed and originally got the mortgage going through a self cert route) Our circs are different now, I earn a lot more than he does, so need to be added to the mortgage for this reason.
Originally we asked for the additional borrowing and the mortgage broker came back and said NR would give us a mortgage but only if we consolidated.:rotfl:0
