Housebuilder Shares Soaring since budget....

Housebuilders up sharply since the budget:

Barratt 4.91%
Taylor Wimpey 4.19%
Persimmon 3.69%

Not good news for the crashaholics......

    VAT increase will make renovations more expensive, but new-builds will be relatively cheaper (VAT exempt).

    We are still going to have a price crash though.. it's already happening.

    The share price is linked to the prospects for the housing market.

    Investors liked what they saw in todays budget. Not as much pain as forecast, spread more widely, and almost nothing that will impact house prices.

    Surely this is in anticipation of them building more houses and making more money, wouldn't this enhance the supply and put a downward pressure on houses? It was only the other day somebody was posting that Tory policies were stopping new developments due to putting NIMBYs in charge etc. I'm confused.

    TW lost about 38% of their value from April 2010 to June 2010. Since then it's bounced about 9%. I think the "crashaholics" would be pretty pleased with that as a leading indicator.
