mackenzie hall-what is going on?

i shall try and make my problem sound simple if i can!
i have lived at my present address for 14 years.i owed some accounts to wescott which were paid off in january 03.in september 09 i got letters from mackenzie hall saying i owed these accounts.so i rang told them they were paid in 03 and thought that was it as the man told me he had closed them.
i did a equifax credit check on sunday to find 6 searches done by mackenzie hall last september relating to outstanding debt.4 at my present address and 2 at my previous address of 14 years ago!
so i rang mackenzie hall on monday to ask for these searches to be removed and was told that they are unable to get equifax to do this as they are statuate barred accounts?:mad:i said it was them who had done the searches and the man told me i have to ring wescott to get them to do this!can anyone tell me what i need to do as i am not really sure if another company can request removal of the searches.i.e wescott ask for mackenzie hall searches to be removed.
just to add none of my reports have any accounts outstanding on them with either company or have any ccjs on them as i dont owe any money to anyone also i have had no further correspondance from mackenzie hall or wescott about theses accounts since the letters last year.help what do i do.
it looks really bad on my report that 6 searches were done in one day and it is showing the reason for searches is outstanding debt.equifax told me they stay on the report for 2 years i thought it was 1 year-it is with experian.
hope i have explained my problem well enough so someone maybe able to advise.thank you in advance. p.s this searches are in table 1 which is visible to lenders.
so an update.
i rang equifax who are going to raise a dispute on these searches and interestingly they informed me that a company can only do one search in any 24 hour period and the lovely people at mackenzie hall did 6 on the same day:mad:
i also rang mackenzie hall again and got hold of a manager(i use that term loosely-very rude lady)i explained all of the above and verified that the accounts were closed and i owed them no monies from either address searched to which rude lady said yes!i enquired as to why any search had been done in october 2009 when i had spoken to them in september to which she could not answer.in fact she even tried to tell me that mackenzie hall dont search credit applications(table 1 with equifax)and told me to email the search details which i have for them to look into it.it is quite clearly table 1 credit applications they searched.i have also let mackenzie hall know that a dispute has been raised with equifax,so hopefully this will get rectified.rude lady also told me they must have a reason for looking for me-but as i told rude lady why did you need to look for me 3 weeks after talking to the man that sorted out my non money owing accounts?she then decided maybe they were looking for someone with my name.mackenzie hall seem a bit of a strange company to deal with so i shall leave equifax to sort this out.
so if anyone does have any searches(more than 1 in 24 hours) done in credit applications by mackenzie hall(oops silly me-they dont search applications-duh) it maybe an idea to get equifax to look into it for you.

The searches will only show up to you. Any searches that show up to everyone must be agreed by you, such as a credit check for a credit card.
If anyone but you looks at the report those searches won't show as they are not going to be full searches, as they need your permission to do a full search.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -
thanks for that-i thought that at first but equifax have assured me they are visible to lenders as they(all 6)show up in table 1,the credit application search table.also i am classed as a danger due to them being credit application table.i shall hope this is sorted soon as experian and callcredit reports are both clear and no problems on them.:)DarkConvict wrote: »The searches will only show up to you. Hi Jolfc,
I am currently waiting for McKenzie Hall to get back to me regarding proving I owe a few debts and they also carried out 3 searches on my file. I contacted the CCCS via this website and was also informed that only I can see the searches and nobody else if I make a credit application. They appear to be a law onto themselves if you put their name into the forum section.
Bottle of RedIf you've nothing decent to say, perhaps you shouldn't say anything.

firstly hello to all , been loytering for some time now but I have just had a voice text message left on the answer phone saying a ref number but from what I can gather that these are not nice people to deal with!! I have debts but all all are currently being paid with no problems from the agreed terms with them cant see why they would want to be involved. anyone give me an idea on how to deal with these people as worried now.0

I had 4 searches from McKenzie hall last month on my Equifax report and i was 100% sure i owed nobody anything at all.
I disputed these through Equifax and 3 weeks later they were removed by the CRA.0 -
