Bank of Ireland mortgages - Overpayments

Just rang up Bank of Ireland (taken out via the Post Office) to confirm the first payment after just remortgaging from Skiptons.

I wanted to change the date and increase the DD to ensure we overpay every month and we were told they don't do it! If we want to overpay we have to ring up every single month. For the next 5 years!

This is rediculous, I hadn't heard of a provider making regular overpayments so difficult to make.

I was very impressed with the service and the rate but their lack of this fundamental feature to assist in overpaying is very disappointing.

Was this not mentioned in the literature you read before taking out a mortgage with them ?

Set up a Standing Order (under your control) for the over payment ?

No, suprisingly enough it wasn't. Just gave us a number of ways we could overpay - but in the past I hadn't seen increase the DD as an option anyway.

I didn't realise this was a possibility, I will give them a call and see if we can do this.
