I have several special occasions to attend this summer and tights/stockings are expected to be worn. I wondered if anyone uses leg make up and if so, which ones are the best for not rubbing off on clothes, ease of application, etc etc. I very rarely wear tights and I certainly don't fancy them in this sort of heat!!

Hi,
I have a friend who tried a product called Nyce Legs. Its hyped as nylons in a can. She did have a few problems getting it to look natural. You can get this for about £15.
Leg make up is usually heavy and used for covering birthmarks etc. Not sure of the staying power, esp in hot weather.
Would a good fake tan be an option?0 -
Loreal Glambronze, waterproof and Rimmel Wash off with lycra:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

I use Solait Sexy legs from Superdrug, which was about £4. It is an opaque gel with a bit of shimmer. I can't really be bothered with fake tan, so just use this from time to time. It was recommended by the Beauty Bible people in their Beauty Steals book, and I'm happy with it too.0

I've got the Rimmel Shimmer stuff BUT it's not waterproof so if there is any chance of a spash of rain then you're done for.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

Thanks for the responses:T
As to fake tan, my legs are fairly tanned but are not as perfect as they used to be in my youth! I remember in the 70's my mum used to use a leg makeup (she had very thin skin and the blue viens used to show through and she didn't like that at all) that went on like a foundation, wasn't heavy or thick but really gave the impression of lovely skin. I guess I'll just have to buy some and start experimenting. At least I can wash it off if I don't like the result:D0 -
I used to use the No.7 Stocking Cream. I can't remember if that's what it's still called but I've bought it more recently and it worked for me. You put it on with wet hands and it washes off with soap and water. Just don't be sitting on anyone's lap if they're wearing white trousers (well it was the 70s).

I managed to get some No7 stocking cream recently, as it was reduced. I bought 4 tubes!
I didn't know I was supposed to put it on with wet hands, though... will try that next time!0 -
The Boots No 7 Smooth On Bronzer is really good - it's a liquid rather than a lotion (like the original Guerlain Teint Dore) which you can spray on, then I use a couple of cotton pads to wipe it over my legs, or apply it directly to the cotton wool pad and then wipe it over legs in (up to down works best).
It's very natural looking, doesn't streak, doesn't rub off once it's dried and you can build up the colour to make it stronger. The only thing I'd advise is put a little cream on your hands, as the lotion tends to seep through the pad and gives you brown fingers.0 -

Bitsy, the one I use from Rimmel is waterproof, sort of, you need soap to remove it so rain should be ok:) The Loreal one is much better imo but of course more expensive:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
I saw two Pretty Polly ones in the 99p store today.
Love legs bronze leg gloss (like a deodorant stick)
And sheer leg make up (in a tube)
No idea if they are any good...my legs only come in wintery blue, & summery white...but I saw them & thought of you0
