JUNK food and sitting around playing computer games and watching TV makes it far easier for today's youngsters to pile on the pounds. That's why we are setting up the Your Life Fit Kids Club.
It is part of the Daily Mirror's Let's Battle Obesity campaign, launched earlier this week, which calls on the government, supermarkets and food manufacturers to take seriously their responsibilities towards keeping the nation fit.
In our battle with the bulge, children are most at risk. One in 10 youngsters is now classed as overweight, and one in 25 is obese - that's fat enough for their health to suffer.

Obesity is linked with heart disease, cancer, strokes, high blood pressure and weak bones. In 2002, the first cases of obesity-related type 2 diabetes were diagnosed in kids as young as 12.

It can also lead to emotional problems like being bullied at school and depression.

But it's one thing telling your kids to eat fruit - and another getting them to take any notice. That's where the Your Life Fit Kids Club comes in.
Launching today and with monthly updates, it will provide all the advice you need to help your kids eat healthily and be physically active.

As a taster of what's to come, we've kicked off by outlining the main food and exercise battles all parents have to face - and how to successfully deal with them.

By tackling the obesity time bomb TOGETHER we can ensure a brighter, healthier future for all our children.
