Ideas for my Hen night theme please!

I have my local Hen Do in a few weeks, and before I invite everyone and make arrangements I wondered if you could help me think of a theme for dressing up?

I dont want to restrict everyone to a theme such as policewoman etc, I want a theme that people can pick and choose from, but when we are out we are still 'united' if that makes sense?!

Plus I dont want to bump into a million other hen groups with the same accessories!

All advice welcome!

PS has anyone done cocktail making at Revolution? is it expensive? and is it fun?!

A theme we did a few times at universtiy was to pick the first letter of the (usually) birthday person's name - and everyone had to dress as something beginning with that letter - you get amazingly inventive costumes - e.g. girl called Amy, guests dressed as:
    Australian
    Airline stewardess
Armadillo (like Ross from friends :rotfl:)
    Abbot
    Acrobat
    Archer
    Artist
    Athlete
    etc.
    Works better with bigger groups.

Or dress after a decade - e.g. flapper girls, or 60's, 70's disco theme...

Oooh, or Cowboys and Indians - you can stage mock battles for fun to amuse passers by, or have danceoffs in clubs :D
Or cast of a movie/musical if you like any in particular

My OH was just at a Rugby 7s tournament and one of the womens teams turned up dressed as the cast of Glee if you're Gleeks?! It's quite sad that he recognised the characters and outed himself as a Gleek, I have a lot to answer for!

I like the idea of dressing as a letter Fixx! A friend of mine did that too and you get some really inventive costumes!

It's a joke amongst my friends that I'm still obsessed with Barbie at the age of 25 so we're having that as my theme and we're dressing up as Barbie dolls! Not everyone knows yet and the ones who don't know probably won't be too pleased but it's my party so they have to do what I want! ;)

I went to a hen night last year that had a theme of the letter C - everybody had to dress as something beginning with C, I was Cleopatra, we had a Cat, a couple of Cowgirls, a Cavegirl, a Cancan dancer and Combat-girl!
I was braver and had nicer legs, I was going to go as a Catholic schoolgirl!
I smile because I have no idea what is going on :o

i am having a neon theme for mine, which i liked because means can be flexible, and people who dont like dressing up can join in by just accessorising. me and some of my friends are going the whole hog though and having tutus, so i guess tutus could also be a theme. but one that my sister went to this weekend they dressed up as wheres wally, which looked hilarious, and was really easy as they just wore red and white striped tops and plastic glasses.

I think the colour theme suggested by Emu53 or the neon theme suggested by bubble96 are the best ideas.
That way, people who are uncomfortable in looking too "girls on tour" or are shy about fancy dress have a more flexible option.

You could have it even more low key & everyone has a flower to wear in their hair (a bit more classy than deely boppers).

The last hen weekend i wnet on we dressed the hen up as sandy from grease, leather biker jacket blonde wig etc and everyone went as pink ladies. We bought the pink lady jackets off ebay. Then everone could get dressed up or down as much as they wanted to. Some went for full 50's style skirt and poppysocks and some went for skinny jeans, normal going out clothes. Even though everyone looked different and individual we all kinda went together.

Oooh that's sounds like a brill idea! May steal that as a party theme for OH's birthday! :T

We had a cowboys and indians party last year and that's a good theme, you can go all out, like I did with full on saloon girl costume or just get a checked shirt, jeans and a hat like a few of the less adventurous did.

How about something based around a cocktail theme -like carribean, or based around a cocktail movie .
Or movie stars on a cocktail or oscars night- you could have an award for various things on the night with imitation oscars.
