Extended warranty for Tefal Actifry.

Hi
I want to buy a Tefal actifry, the best price i have seen is £128 on amazon. I have also read some complaints about poor reliability so would like an extended warranty. Where and how can i get one.

thanks
Paul.

I wouldn't bother with the extended warranty - just buy from a good retailer who will most likely take it back even after the 12 month warranty because of the known issues with it.

I got one Feb 09 and it went up in smoke in May this year. I emailed Littlewoods who I bought it from, they asked me to send it back & they would take it up with Tefal (Tefals customer service is useless - they didn't offer any help whatsoever to me, which is why I approached the retailer).

Within 2 days of sending the item back i got a full refund on my account. Littlewoods do get a lot of stick (and sometimes rightly so) but on this occasion I can't fault them. Only problem is, they're now £175 on there so if I were you I'd buy from Amazon who also have very good customer services. I don't think you'd have any problem sending it back to Amazon if its faulty in the future.

Only thing with that is you rely on goodwill from Amazon.

Ladela, would you say they are any good. I mostly cook for one, and have a friend who says they are great for chips and roast potato's.
The other alternative is Comet @ £138 plus a five year warranty for £50. Expensive, but if they are as good as they say, maybe its worth it.

I loved mine - infact will be replacing it very soon. Wish I didn't because I really don't want to be buying a Tefal product again after their dismal customer service but I miss the chips!! I used to do roast veggies in it too - and I've never tasted better sausages and chicken drumsticks. Really, really good - but obviously the machine doesn't really last very long (at least mine didn't!). That said, the newer versions are supposed to be improved and without the fault that affected the first lot - but who knows? Could just be Tefal spin!

I know when I did a search, when my actifry broke - I read quite a few posts from people who had bought from Amazon who had their money refunded no problem - I'm going to order mine from them. Also, Costco and Macro seem to refund if a problem arises so maybe try one of them?

Don't Argos always try and sell a warranty with everything they sell? It would be more expensive from there though. And I have never tried the warranty so don't know if they are any good when you make a claim.

I've had 3, but none of them lasted very long. The first two were replaced by the manufacturer, who I emailed direct each time, and the third one went up in smoke earlier this year and hadn't been used very much at all. I've given up now. Yes, the chips were nice, but the Actifry seems to have some problems that need sorting out.

One point to mention, each time that the machine was replaced, the new machine's guarantee only ran to the end of the first guarantee. So I had three broken ones within the guarantee period. I took the last one to the tip!

My Actify started smoking on Christmas Eve!! But it was out of warranty by 4 weeks, phoned up Argos and they were very ridgid with the machine being out of warranty. So I phoned up Trading Standards, they were brilliant, said that a machine that costs around £150 should last longer than it had, and they backed me 100% Told me that my contract was with Argos, so I went back, armed with faulty machine and reference number from TS. Spoke to manager, threatened her with TS, and BINGO got a new Actifry! The fryer is brilliant, but I have learnt not to leave the room when it is on.

If its going up in smoke in the next couple of years, and the reviews on here are that mostly they are crap, why are you even
contemplating buying one. I was thinking about it but after reading this thread I'm not going to bother.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

I got my Actifry from CostCo - at the time it was much cheaper than anywhere else and they have a very good customer service reputation and usually 5 year cover I think.
