Debt Free Day Came Early!!

Hi Folks...Just want to have a little jump up and down...I AM NOW DEBT FREE!!
A little history....
For the last goodness knows how many years...well 8 really, I have been living with a consistent debt of around £3-5K...depending on circumstances each year it would go up or down, but always around the same.
In April, DH and I split....a number of factors, but money was one of them. He tends to be a cautious spendthrift and I am a little more care-free (OK head in bucket really!!!) He hasn't been in debt for 20yrs and then I come along with my little load of debt and it freaks him...understandably....wee love!! :rotfl:
Anyway....I was sitting here in July/August....single mum, £3.5K in debt, no hubby, and thinking I gotta sort myself out....I made a somewhat drastic step and cashed in my endowment policy for £6300. (It's part WP and part MF so couldn't be sold and too much hassle anyway!! - Besides I got my shares out of them, so I'm happy!!) I've paid off my CC - £2200, my overdraft £1000 and solicitors fees etc £1000 and now I am sitting with a black figure in my account and not a red one!!! :T :j
Oh and hubby and I are working towards getting back together again (NOT because I am now debt free.....that was the least of our problems....but it's no longer one to count!!) So all in all...August started out pants and has finished on a really high note.
Can I also just say, that I have been working towards a budget for the past 2 months and whilst I have had a slip-up or two, I ahve on the whole managed to stick at it. These skills I have learned will come in useful for budgeting the household income once we are back together formally...so all in all it can only get better from here on in...there should be enough left over each month to put towards a yearly holiday without having to resort to credit ever again....YAY!!! :T
Thanks for loads of advice I have been reading here and on TMF!!
