Royal Mail Special Delivery money back

Options
:rotfl: Hi there, not sure if am posting this in the right place but I posted 2 items Royal Mail Special Delivery yesterday, guaranteed by 1.00pm and neither have arrived.
Apparently they have a problem on the system, so I have been refunded my postage as per the contract details for Spec Del.
So I suggest any of you out there track your item if you sent it yesterday by Special Delivery, if it has not arrived by 1.00pm then you are entitled to a refund. Hope someone finds this useful.

I had one posted yesterday arrived OK today in Luton. Not heard of any problems myself, is it on their website?

Hi, how do you claim the money back? do you have to go to the post office?
  • You have to ring the number on the back of the Special Delivery receipt they gave you, we are in what is classed as the Gatwick area but the lady on the phone said the problem is in the Exeter area, so not sure how it all works just know that we will get a refund on postage as it was not delivered by 1.00pm today as guaranteed

Three packages sent yesterday. All have tracked and delivered successfully on the system. No refund for me but very useful info to have for future.

Just a reminder about Special Delivery - there are THREE ways to get money back if things don't go right:

    1) The delivery by 9am/1pm next-day time guarantee as mentioned in this thread. (Though Saturday only counts as 'next-day' if you pay £2 supplement.) Just get a refund of your postage cost.

    2) The inclusive compensation for loss/damage of £50 or £500 etc depending on whether 9am or 1pm service. HOWEVER you need to REMEMBER to pay extra if that standard amount isn't going to be enough!

    3) CONSEQUENTIAL LOSS insurance which can be VERY relevant if you are sending TIME SENSITIVE documents - eg a TICKET to an EVENT that's going to be worthless if the system doesn't deliver on time. Completely optional but worth considering where TIME does matter - eg £1.25 for £1000 cover.

Did you just ring them and gave them your address and details and they are going to send you a cheque?I remember trying this about 2/3 months ago and they wanted me to fill in a form the size of war and peace and wait about 10 or 20 days. have you already got your refund on the same day?
