Is sickness calculated the same for part timers?

I had a question to ask regarding sickness. Is the time off calculated for sickness exactly the same as that of full timers?
I was given a doctor's note for 21 days (including weekends) - of that, I only took off three days as I work one day a week (one per week).
When I accessed my sickness record I was told it has been recorded as 23 days off sick (from the day I reported it to the day I came back).
I asked HR why this is the case and they said it's because it's calculated the same as full timer.
I thought thats abit unfair as annual leave is calculated pro rata to a full timer, TOIL is calculated pro rata to a full timer but sickness is calculated exactly the same as a full timer.
Is what HR and my managers said true? I referred to the sickness policy and there is no mention of how it is calculated for a part timer. In fact, all the policy's are based on full time working staff.

My work do the same. I work Monday to Friday but they count the weekends aswell. so 2 days can become 4 if its over the weekend.0

At my work we count the actual days not worked. I am on a three day week (Mon, Thur, Fri) and if I'm off sick for a week (Mon-Fri) it counts as 3 daysLindsayO

I would expect it to be worked out the way you suggested unless the doctors note said otherwise.
Example
Doctor gives 21 day medical note on 1st of month. I would then expect the employee to return to work on the 22nd of the month regardless of working days etc. It would be recorded as a 3 week absence.
This is the only way to have clarity and fairness otherwise you would be recorded as off for 3 days which is less than a week when in fact it is 3 weeks. You would be opening yourselves upto claims from full time staff of unfairness. Especially when most medical entitlements are based on working weeks.
This is the same way holiday entitlements work.0
