Changing mortgage mid-application?

Advice on this would be appreciated:

I applied for FirstDirect lifetime tracker remortgage, base+1.89%, £499 fee. My app was accepted, FD have sent me my offer and in the meantime set up my bank acc with them (a condition of the mortgage). A few other bits of paperwork are still being sorted eg they've requested my NHBC certificate, solicitor details etc.

But today, I've noticed that FD are now offering their lifetime tracker at base+1.79%, £99 fee. Can I change to this better deal at this stage? Will they just say no? What are the implications, other than hassle?

Thanks.
