Help please mortgage transfer

Hi,

I was wondering if someone could help me. I currently have a mortgage with my partner. Our lender was Mortgage Express who were nationalised, although our fixed rate doesnt end until October.

We are looking to move (same size mortgage, bigger place further out from city).....however although I am employed I am on maternity leave so we cant remortaged until I go back to work at the end of the year.

If we wish to buy a new place do you know if transfering mortgages exist....I have heard mixed reviews

If you mean porting your mortgage, it is usually possible but is treated as a new application, i.e. you will have to meet the current lending criteria.
