hi, i was wondering if anybody has heard of a person having 'dry kidneys' and if so, any idea what it means please? my sister-in-law has been in hospital for 10 days with severe pain, and late last night they mentioned this to her. my brother was there at the time but seems to have no idea what this actually is
i have tried googling it , but the only things that have come up are people asking the same question!! lol thanks in advance

On the basis that the kidneys are basically a filtration unit and help sift waste and water from the blood , I'd assume that dry kidneys means that the fluid balance is upset and there's a build up of proteins and/or sugars. High blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol are all factors that can contribute to kidney problems so if your sister has any of those conditions that may be a factor to the problems she's having now0

You could try clling NHS direct- when I was confused over a diagnosis I emailed them and they did get back to me with an (all be it hyperchondriac version) of a detailed explaination. (Hyperchondriac as they told me my grade 2 sprained ankle may be out of action for 12 months. My doctor reaconed 6-8 weeks). You can email but you'd get a faster result by calling.0
