Personal Loan for Student
Options
I'm looking to get a loan but I know it's near impossible to get one that isn't solely with Wonga.com as I am a student although with my State Loans I earn a total of around £13k/year -- so slightly more than minimum wage.
However, the problem is before I was a student I had some debts and my last loan paid the rest of those off and is helping me toward rent, my next loan doesn't come until mid-end September.
The MAIN REASON I need a loan though is my partner is on a student nurses course and if any of you are a/with student nurse you'll know how the free days a year are less than someone with a F/T job, and she is only free in August for a few weeks and we'd like to have our first holiday for AWHILE.
I know I could repay the loan once I get my next State Funded I just can't find anywhere where I can lend £500 for a couple months / year.
Kind Regards,
Ryan Tracey

There's a reason no-one lends students money.
Can you not get a parttime job? Borrow from parents?0 -
Work 8-14 hours a week and most of that pay is paying; single, mother of 5 mum back... and the rest goes on rent / bills...0

Horrible as it is you may just have to put the holiday on hold. Save up for it and go next year instead, least you wont be further in debt from it. Or go somewhere in the uk and camp/stay with friends or family for a few days.0

Go on a bargain bucket holiday. When I was a student I took my missus to Dorset in a Caravan for a week for £120 + £90 spending money. It was good enough. £210 is a couple of extra shifts at work.0

"with my staate loans I earn.."
umm, no you don't. With your state loans you have debt which has to be repaid.Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -
You're trying to borrow against borrowing...
Save up with the money you intend using to repay the loan.0 -
Am I seeing that right?
Using a loan as income for another loan?
Sounds bad.0 -
...with my State Loans I earn a total of around £13k/year -- so slightly more than minimum wage...
Can you see the flaw in that - using a loan towards your income that you want to use to justify being able take out and pay off another loan? Borrowing money to pay for a holiday when both of you are students doesn't seem likely to get a sympathetic attitude from lenders either, especially when you have a history of not paying debts..loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.0 -
Oh wow, lots of very rude people on these forums?
I'll just let you 4 above this message know encase you ever decide to be a student / have kids who wish to but Student Loans are paid back at 9% of what you earn a year over £15,000 so you only pay back when you're earning, which own't matter... because you earning at least £1250/month before tax, but THANKS ALOT ANYWAY!!!
P.S. Hope you know a bit more about student loans now
