Battery toothbrush for 3 and a half year old?

Our 3 and a half year old boy has been given a battery powered toothbrush as a gift from his grandma - an Oralb 'stages' one with ''Tigger" on it - a bit like this one

He's had a go with it, and with supervision and help he covers his teeth well, and enjoys using it. Just checking with any dentists or hygenists is this ok for a 3 and a half year old to use as long as supervised to ensure brush gets round the teeth? Just incase I am missing some reason this is a bad idea.
We're also using a 'smear' of toothpaste is 1000ppm flouride (Aquaftesh milk teeth paste 0-3) - again I'm assuming this is ok, but would appreciate any in the know to put me right if not.
Thanks

Oral B is a good make, and so that brush would be fine especially if he enjoys using it.
Does it take new heads? Remember to replace those every 3 months or sooner if he chews them!
3 year olds don't have the dexterity to brush their teeth effectively themselves - so although it's fine to 'let them play' at it, it's you doing it that will get the job done, not them.
The toothpaste is a bit low on fluoride for my liking. At 3, there's nothing wrong with using a smear of adult toothpaste with 1250ppm or above F-. This will do the teeth more good. How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
