I know this isn’t a very nice subject but I am worried.
I have just been to the loo to move my bowels. It was hard and quite painful and afterwards I noticed that I had passed a bit of blood. This is the first time this has happened. My bowel movement is normal and I a not feeling any pain or anything else. Could it just be because of the struggle to move my bowels, I am very worried now.

With the weather at the moment, it could be you're dehydrated and that is causing the hardness, and that is causing trauma. Try drinking more water and see if that helps.
You've not had a lot of beetroot recently in a salad? That can sometimes look very like blood when it reappears!
If it's persistant over the next few days, go to the Dr.
Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. I ended up having an endoscopy (Very interesting video! They let me watch!! No pain, but a bit uncomfortable) - which found nothing but a bit of haemorrhoid tissue (Piles).
Chances are it's nothing - but as with all things, the sooner it's seen the easier it will be to sort out.How to find a dentist.
1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.0 -
Agree with toothsmith but would suggest you see a doctor as soon as possible due to the anal bleed.0

Hi, thanks for your replies. No I don’t eat beetroot so it can’t be that.
It is the first time its happened and I was struggling this morning so I assume it is because of that but I am still worried so might just ring the doctor.0 -
Could be piles (but I think you'd feel them) or it could be an anal fissure which is nothing to worry about but play safe and get yourself checked.
I also go along with Toothsmiths advice about drinking plenty of fluids and I'd also make sure you get your 5-a-day fruit and veg.0 -
If you were struggling, its quite likedly it was a tiny tear that has happened.
Put some vaseline on if you have any and if it hurts tomorrow when you go just give the nurse a ring at your surgery to
ease your mind (and the other end - sorry, couldnt resist)make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
You have probably just strained a little too hard, and it's torn the soft tissue.. try to rest your bottom and drinks lots of fluids to make the next poop nice and soft.
When you go again don't strain, if it won't come naturally then leave the toilet and try later.9/70lbs to lose

Can I politely remind people of what is & is not acceptable on this board (taken from the sticky at the top):MSE_Martin wrote: »What it is not for
It is very specifically and strictly not for the discussion of what to do in the event of certain medical problems. Please do not ask questions about this. If you're having problems use facilities such as NHS direct and your doctor to go and talk through what you should do.:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls

I'd say go to the doctr- blood is blood- its not supposed to come from your rear end! Better to be safe then sorry, you'd only be left worrying otherwise. A quick check up would put your mind at rest and you may even learn some interesting facts about yourself!
Hope your appointment goes well.0
