Can anyone suggest a fabric for this purpose?

I want to make 2 of these, one purple and one black.

But I am stuck on what fabric to use, I don't think lycra would be suitable.

Also 4 or 5 yards? OH is very tall but slimmer than me but i doubt he would wear it, normally i am a 8/10 but after i think more a 12/14.

I think they are amazing but £40 for a length of fabric :naughty:

    Hello - congratulations!

I think a thick jersey (t-shirt material) fabric is what the 'proper' ones are made of. There's a useful site
    http://www.make-baby-stuff.com/make-a-baby-sling.html

which might be helpful for you.

My mum used tocarry me and my children in a "Welsh shawl". She wrapped it around herself somehow, the baby sat on her hip and she had both hands free! I could never get the hang of it, but someone else may know, and it was only an ordi nary blanket.

Because it's an advert for an alternative, the above site gives a lot of detail about the type of fabrics used for various wraps

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

They look so complex yet so simple all at the same time, i would feel more comfortable making a wrap sling than a ring sling.
